Created in layers, this work understands continuity as its own most stabile introverted place.

CHOREOGRAPHIC FANTASY No. 2 is in the first instance contemplation about the end of time. A certain depth and tension of a performative event slowly falls in to the abyss of form and time punctuation, where only mere breathing resists the pure compactness of the form-landscape.

Choreographic structure in this work is continuously floating, allowing a performative landscape to recreate its response to the choreographic dynamic that is happening in each given moment. Creating and recreating the specific formal language of the piece, a dance articulates itself through choreograpic as well as through the structural dynamic that is in every moment anew. In some other instances this work circulates around the idea of The Dictinct; the distinct distinguishes itself: it sets itself apart and at a distance, it therefore marks this separation and thus causes it to be remarked—it becomes remarkable, noticeable and marked as such. It also, therefore, attracts attention: in its withdrawal and from out of this withdrawal, it is an attraction and a drawing toward itself.

In the second instance, the work is a also homage to the album Electronics by Zeitkratzer and Carsten Nicolai. In reviews described as a floating merge of oscillators and sinusoidal generators that poses the question about existence of romance machine or even electronic idyll, it created an important connecting piece in working process. Created within the idea of a pure drone event, formalism and poetry, this piece of music grounded transparently the vehicle of the choreographic.

Work is hosted and presented by the venue of House of HDLU. Also known as Mestrovic pavilion, this venue is one of the most renowned places for contemporary arts in Zagreb. Designed by Ivan Mestrovic and built in 1938, it has served several functions in its lifetime. It was subsequently transformed into the Museum of the Revolution in post-war Yugoslavia and in 1990, it was given back to the Croatian Association of Artists.

==============================================

FROM THE REVIEWS

“CHOREOGRAPHIC FANTASY No. 2 focuses on a form, a shape that is consciously or unconsciously anchored in the body, or where a dancing body is aiming for. The idea, it seems, is trying to elaborate on the impossibility of a fixation of forms, certain volatility of form, an idea of a single point that is actually just a stain or a vibration. Dancers seem to travel back to some forgotten or obsessive movement and are re-experiencing it again and again. We recognize in that landscape a various streams from classical ballet; some arabesque, relevé, jeté and also many other forms of unknown source that are continuously appearing and disappearing. All of them are highly connected with each other, in a mutual reflection, spatially thickening themselves, slowing themselves down, touching and forming, then again diverging and speeding up, scattering and dividing. While in Marjana Krajac’s previous works emphasis was organized around a different constitution of bodies, what is noticeable here are techniques that are inscribed in the bodies. Lana Hosni and Katarina Rilovic attract with focus, precision and movement control. Irena Mikec and Mia Zalukar are more relaxed and playful. Excellent performance of all six as a collective is definitely carrying a performance as a whole.“

Jelena Mihelcic, Plesnascena.hr

==============================================

Duration: 57 minutes

Author, choreography, concept: Marjana Krajac

Performed by: Filipa Bavcevic, Lana Hosni, Irena Mikec, Sara Piljek, Katarina Rilovic and Mia Zalukar

Music: Zeitkratzer & Carsten Nicolai “Electronics”

Collaboration on the project: Irena Tomasic

Design of graphic materials: Valentina Toth

Sound technicals assistance: Jasmin Klaric

Technical direction: Dusko Richtermoc

Technical assistance: Leonardo Krakic

Communication: Anita Klapan

Production and realization: Sodaberg koreografski laboratorij

Realized with the support of Ministry of Culture of Republic Croatia, City Office for Culture Zagreb and Foundation Kultura Nova. Created with the support of Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance, Zagreb Dance Center and House of HDLU in Zagreb. We are thanking ZKM Theatre an Pogon Jedinstvo for technical support.

==============================================

Marjana Krajac

http://www.marjanakrajac.com/

==============================================

Zeitkratzer

http://zeitkratzer.de/

==============================================

Sodaberg koreografski laboratorij

http://sodaberg.hr/

==============================================

House of HDLU

http://www.hdlu.hr/eng/

==============================================

Zagreb Dance Centre

http://www.plesnicentar.info

==============================================

Festival Showroom of Contemporary Sound

http://izlog.sczg.hr/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/katalogweb.pdf

==============================================

==============================================

We are announcing new dance work by Marjana Krajač, on 6th and 7th of May 2016, at 20:00h, at the venue of House of HDLU in Zagreb. Performances are presented in the frame of contemporary sound festival Showroom of Contemporary Sound. Please feel warmly invited, and join us on another journey through the movement, sound and space.

Entrance is free.

[7
