The exhibition will open in the week marking the <strong>World Refugee Day<\/strong>, and will stay open until July 17, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony will be followed by <strong>artists\u2019 performances starting at 7.30 PM<\/strong>:\u00a0Josip Pino Ivan\u010di\u0107,\u00a0Iva Matija Bitanga,\u00a0Marijan Crtali\u0107 and\u00a0Vlasta \u017dani\u0107<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The opening night will continue with a <strong>musical program starting at 8.00 PM<\/strong> and brought together by peace activist and DJ Mario Kova\u010d, PhD.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2943\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/zizic_kozul-2-900x645.jpg\" alt=\"zizic_kozul\" width=\"687\" height=\"482\" \/>\u017di\u017ei\u0107\/Ko\u017eul:\u00a0<em>Standard C\/H 001<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Zagreb Salon is a renowned exhibition and one of the oldest national group exhibitions displaying the most recent art production \u2013 a contemporary art fair alternately focusing on visual arts, architecture and urbanism, or applied arts and design.\u00a0 Organized respectively by Croatian Association of Artists, Croatian Architects Association and Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts, it has been taking place since 1966. The 51<sup>st<\/sup> Zagreb Salon, organized by the Croatian Association of Artists, is dedicated to visual arts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Having taken into consideration the socio-political commotions culminating in the great wave of forced migrants from the East, and the media coverage ascribing them with the disintegration of Europe (e.g. Slovakia proclaimed it would only accept Christians during the distribution of Syrian refugees among the member states of the EU, Hungary put up a four meters high razor-wire wall all along its 175 kilometers border with Serbia, Slovenia put up a barbed wire fence on its Croatian border, Croatia closed its borders to refugees on March 9, 2016),\u00a0 it was the intention of our thematic call for proposals for the 51<sup>st<\/sup> Zagreb Salon entitled <em>Challenging Humanism<\/em> to steer applying artists towards a critical reading of humanism within the ever dominant trinity of oppression \u2013 racism, sexism and speciesism, i.e. discrimination based on race, sex or species (animal and plant, Earth). To that end, how to visualize the Evil and the Good of today, how to visualize humanism in any of the visual culture media? Or in the words of Ivan Supek, a physicist, writer, historian, philosopher, fighter for peace and humanist, who never belonged to a political party or a single worldview, and whose 100<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of birth was marked last year: \u201cHumanism\u2026 It is the only idea with the potential of connecting the entire world. The program has been developed in collaboration with Centre for Women\u2019s Studies, Ru\u0111er Bo\u0161kovi\u0107 Institute, Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies, Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, University of Zadar and VERN University of Applied Sciences. the exhibition entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/2016\/06\/izlozba-posljednji-materijali-hommage-galeti\/\"><strong><em>Last Materials: An Hommage to Galeta<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, curated by Tea Hatadi and honoring the multimedia artist and filmmaker <strong>Ivan Ladislav Galeta<\/strong> (1947 \u2013 2014), the winner of the 49<sup>th<\/sup> Zagreb Salon Grand Prix for his <em>Disappearing Multi Self-portrait<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Organization committee of the 51<sup>st<\/sup> Zagreb Salon<\/strong>: Ivan\u010dica Markov\u010di\u0107 (City Office for
