Maja Vr\u017eina’s<\/strong> solo exhibition RULE OF THREE<\/strong> will open in the Prsten Gallery on Friday<\/strong>, May 19, 2017 at 19.00<\/strong>. The curator of the exhibition is the art historian Iva K\u00f6rbler.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Maja Vr\u017eina will present to the Croatian audience a series of paintings and sculptures made in special gilding technique.<\/p>\n

(\u2026) Her black-and-white world, which clearly shows the polarities of life and death, birth and death, light and darkness, looks like a playful stage of surreal and fantastic visions, dreams and subconscious, but only at first glance. We can clearly feel, not only existential anxiety, but also the evocation of loneliness and isolation, figuratively and literally \u201cstopped\u201c at the edges of the painting by a gilded frame, which acts as a symbol of (self-)renewal and new life. \u00a0According to the artist, aside from letting oneself go to the currents and temptations of life and emotions, one should also seek to find a real and metaphorical balance. This should be done by taking steps \u2018beyond the frames\u2019, rules, clich\u00e9s and conventions, and by carefully trying to create a fragile framework within which we can protect ourselves from the external world \u2013 our own golden cage. \u00a0(\u2026)<\/p>\n
