Exhibition I Was Moved by the Winds of the Past<\/strong><\/b>,\u00a0by Danilo Stojanovi\u0107<\/strong>,\u00a0will be opened on Wednesday, March 27 at 7 pm<\/strong>\u00a0at the Karas Gallery (Zvonimirova 58).<\/p>\n

“The paintings displayed at this exhibition are conceived as the cross-section of the past four years of my intense painting and experimenting. Of different formats and themes, canvases always have some aura of melancholy and romanticism, human figure is barely represented, whereas the landscape and blurry colour scheme, as well as a meticulous treatment of the painting surface come to the fore. (…)<\/p>\n

The results are often crushing and frustrations that arise from this sometimes lead to a complete destruction of a work, but also to new discoveries. I always try to keep a bit of intuition and spontaneity, since the entire process depends on that. Although it might not seem such at first, nothing is ever planned in advance, but changes constantly. I draw inspiration from various sources, especially from early Gothic literature, science fiction of the \u201840s and \u201850s, archival photographs, scientific illustrations.”<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE ARTIST<\/strong><\/p>\n
Danilo Stojanovic\u0301 was born in Pula, Croatia, in 1989. In 2009, after graduating from the School of Applied Arts and Design in Pula, Croatia (2004\/2008, Department of Painting), he enrolled in the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Italy, Department of Painting, under Professor Carlo di Raco. He earned his BA in Painting in 2013. The same year he participated in the establishment of the Fondazione Malutta Art Collective in which he has been active ever since. In 2017 he received his MA (Cum Laude, 110\/110) in Painting from the same Academy and earned the title of an academic painter. He has exhibited in group exhibitions in Italy (Monitor Gallery, Rome; Spazio Buonasera, Torino; Magazzino del Sale, Venice; Studio Tommaseo, Trieste; A+A Gallery, Venice; Il Crepaccio, Milano). Danilo lives and works between Venice and Pula.<\/p>\n
