From June 14 to July 13, Iza Tarasewicz (PL) <\/strong>participated in an artist residency in Zagreb as part of the European project AFAR. During the residency, she became acquainted with the local art scene through visits to studios, exhibitions, and interesting new locations outside the city of Zagreb. She also created a new artwork related to the main themes of the project: ecology, sustainability, heritage, and textile arts, which will be exhibited in the final exhibition in Zagreb, Vienna, and Bucharest. In addition to her artwork, she gave a lecture at the Putolovac gallery on June 25, followed by a discussion with an art historian and theoretician, curator, and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, Leonida Kova\u010d (AFAR Talk).<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

She also participated in a workshop by Nikolina Kne\u017eevi\u0107 Hrgovi\u0107 \u201cWeaving Techniques\u201d.<\/p>\n

My residency lasted from June 14 to July 14 in Zagreb, Croatia. During this time, I was developing my own technology for working with hemp fiber. I have developed my own technique of using hemp fibers. Typically, hemp fibers are commonly used to make ropes, but also used to seal plumbing installations. I bought fibers from the manufacturer in bulk and started dyeing them using natural methods. For a long time I didn’t know how to proceed with the prepared material. I started doing a test with paper glue. I decided to try the technique of laying fibers on a piece of plexiglass and covering it with a thin layer of diluted glue. After many attempts, I created the perfect recipe and technique. The prepared sheets are easy to cut with scissors. At the same time, I had a meeting with the audience at Putolovac Gallery led by Leonid Kova\u010d entitled \u201cyour type of unity\u201d Art practice as a way to hold yourself up. I participated in weaving workshops led by Nikolina Knezevic. During my stay, I visited many galleries and museums. I met many local artists and became familiar with creative initiatives. My entire stay in Zagreb was very intense and hard-working. I created 9 works that will take part in exhibitions in Vienna, Zagreb and Bucharest.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
