Picelj was a pioneer of abstract art in the 1950s and a member of the art collective <em>EXAT-51<\/em> as well as the <strong>New Tendencies<\/strong> movement, which placed Zagreb on the global art map. His works are part of the collections of prestigious museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Tate Modern, the Victoria &amp; Albert Museum in London, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Museum Sztuki in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, among others.
