The current campus on Vinogradska Street was developed in 1894 by German architect Kuno Waidmann. The hospital was run by nuns for many decades and has since evolved into a modern clinical centre with 17 clinics, 7 specialized institutes, and over 2,300 staff members. It also serves as an educational facility for medical, dental, and nursing schools.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38890 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/vinogradska-29.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/vinogradska-29.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/vinogradska-29-200x125.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/vinogradska-29-600x375.jpg 600w\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Murals will be installed on three walls within the <strong>Pediatric Department of the Oncology Clinic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38891\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1-200x113.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/1-1536x864.jpg 1536w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1349\" data-end=\"1415\"><strong>Bulgaria \u2013 ISUL \u201cQueen Joanna\u201d University Hospital, Sofia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1417\" data-end=\"1927\">The University Multiprofile Hospital \u201cQueen Joanna \u2013 ISUL\u201d has a rich history dating back to 1927, when it was established as a hospital for insured workers. Construction began in 1934, and it was named in honor of Queen Joanna, who became its symbolic patron. Since the 1950s, ISUL has grown into a key academic and medical institution, offering specialized diagnostics, treatment, and education. It is home to the only pediatric ENT department in Western Bulgaria, where cochlear implants are also performed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38893 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/f5db13f4d6200bb87e02cce6f9af50c3.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 925px) 100vw, 925px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/f5db13f4d6200bb87e02cce6f9af50c3.jpg 925w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/f5db13f4d6200bb87e02cce6f9af50c3-200x112.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/f5db13f4d6200bb87e02cce6f9af50c3-600x337.jpg 600w\" alt=\"\" width=\"925\" height=\"520\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1929\" data-end=\"1961\"><strong>Mural locations at ISUL include:<\/strong> The entrance to the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic, The entrance to the Pediatric ENT Department, The entrance to the Pediatric Emergency Department, The corridor of the Emergency Unit. Three of these four locations will be used for murals and AR content, with active involvement of hospital staff and patients in assessing the project&#8217;s impact.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38894 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1255px) 100vw, 1255px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2.jpg 1255w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2-200x124.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/2-600x373.jpg 600w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1255\" height=\"781\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2329\" data-end=\"2380\"><strong>Portugal \u2013 Dona Estef\u00e2nia Hospital, Lisbon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2382\" data-end=\"2896\">Founded in 1877 in honor of Queen Stephanie, Dona Estef\u00e2nia Hospital was the first healthcare facility in Portugal dedicated exclusively to pediatric care. Its design was praised by Florence Nightingale as a model children&#8217;s hospital. Today, it is part of the Central Lisbon University Hospital Centre and offers a wide range of national pediatric specialties. By 2027, its services are expected to relocate to a new hospital complex, while the current building will continue to host child-focused care facilities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38895\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/mw-1920.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/mw-1920.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/mw-1920-200x105.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/mw-1920-600x315.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/mw-1920-1536x806.jpg 1536w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1008\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mural locations include:<\/strong> The ENT waiting room, the Immunoallergology waiting room, and the Pediatric Emergency waiting room<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-38896 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/4.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 705px) 100vw, 705px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/4.jpg 699w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/4-200x67.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/4-600x200.jpg 600w\" alt=\"\" width=\"705\" height=\"235\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3028\" data-end=\"3042\"><strong>Next Steps<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3044\" data-end=\"3472\">The project is currently in the mural preparation phase. This includes wall preparation, mural printing and installation, and the development of AR animations that will create a multi-layered, interactive, and engaging experience. All participating hospitals will conduct surveys to evaluate the impact of these interventions on children, parents, and staff, alongside public promotional activities and dissemination of results.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3474\" data-end=\"3729\">Through <em data-start=\"3482\" data-end=\"3498\">Healing Nature<\/em>, we aim to bring art to the spaces where it is most needed \u2013 where children, families, and healthcare workers face some of life\u2019s most difficult moments.
