{"id":5773,"date":"2026-06-09T08:17:27","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T08:17:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/eng\/?p=5773"},"modified":"2026-06-09T08:17:27","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T08:17:27","slug":"press-conference-presentation-of-the-results-of-the-european-project-healing-nature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/eng\/2026\/06\/press-conference-presentation-of-the-results-of-the-european-project-healing-nature\/","title":{"rendered":"PRESS CONFERENCE: Presentation of the results of the European project HEALING NATURE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40670\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/FB-event-photo-1920x1005-px.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1005\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Croatian Association of Fine Artists (HDLU) invites media representatives, professional audiences, and interested visitors to the presentation of the results of the international project <strong><em data-start=\"294\" data-end=\"382\">Healing Nature \u2013 Animation for Health and Well-being in Children&#8217;s Hospital Environments<\/em><\/strong>, which will take place on <strong>Monday, 15 June 2026 at 12:00 in the conference hall of the Children\u2019s Hospital Zagreb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The <em data-start=\"502\" data-end=\"518\">Healing Nature<\/em> project <strong>connects contemporary art, animation, and augmented reality (AR) technology<\/strong> with the aim of creating a more pleasant, stimulating, and emotionally supportive hospital environment for children, their families, and medical staff. Over the past two years in Croatia, Portugal, and Bulgaria, murals, animations, AR content, workshops with children, and research tools have been developed, together forming a unique model for the application of art in healthcare environments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1000\" data-end=\"1675\">At the conference, the results of the international partners will first be presented. The Portuguese partner, <strong>Universidade Lus\u00f3fona \/ COFAC<\/strong>, will present the mural <em data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1181\">\u201c<\/em><strong>Spring Breeze<em data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1181\">\u201d<\/em>, by artist Natalie Woolf<\/strong>, inspired by spring landscapes, watercolor depictions of plants, and calming natural motifs. Alongside the artistic concept, the development of the animation content by the Portuguese team, led by <strong>Pedro Serrazina<\/strong>, will also be presented, as well as the process of integrating animation into the augmented reality system. The mural has been installed in hospitals in Portugal, Croatia, and Bulgaria, and in the Children\u2019s Hospital Zagreb it is located on the 2nd floor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40671\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Slika-zaslona-2026-06-08-u-12.01.47-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"993\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Following this, partners from <strong>New Bulgarian University<\/strong> will present the mural <em data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1788\">\u201c<\/em><strong>The Lilies and the White Pond<em data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1788\">\u201d<\/em>, by Lidija Cvetkova and Evgenia Stoitseva<\/strong>, inspired by fairy-tale imagery and symbolism of peace, hope, and continuity. Activities of the Bulgarian animation team, working under the mentorship of Sevina Ivanova, will also be presented, with participation from animators E<strong>vgenia Stoitseva, Daria Ruseva, Boryana Angelova, Nelina Petkova, and Lyudmila Vasileva<\/strong>, as well as other project activities carried out in Bulgaria. The mural has been installed in all three partner countries, while in the Children\u2019s Hospital Zagreb it is located on the 3rd floor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40672\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Slika-zaslona-2026-06-08-u-12.03.26.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1698\" height=\"824\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Croatian part of the project will be presented by project author <strong>Melinda \u0160ef\u010di\u0107,<\/strong> who, together with <strong>Lea Vidakovi\u0107,<\/strong> developed the <em data-start=\"2477\" data-end=\"2493\">Healing Nature<\/em> concept as a continuation of her earlier artistic and research projects in hospital environments. Special emphasis will be placed on the mural <em data-start=\"2637\" data-end=\"2664\">\u201c<\/em><strong>Forest of Small Wonders<em data-start=\"2637\" data-end=\"2664\">\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, by Melinda \u0160ef\u010di\u0107, created i<strong>n collaboration with children from the House of St. Francis of Caritas of the Archdiocese of Zagreb in Vugrovec, SOS Children\u2019s Village Lekenik, the Krijesnice Kindergarten, and Ivan Gunduli\u0107 Primary School<\/strong>. Children\u2019s drawings of animals, plants, and fantastical beings became an integral part of a layered forest composition that now enriches the spaces of the Children\u2019s Hospital Zagreb and the Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology of the Oncology Clinic at the Sisters of Mercy University Hospital Centre, as well as partner hospitals in Portugal and Bulgaria.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-40673\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hdlu.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Slika-zaslona-2026-06-08-u-12.04.35.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2558\" height=\"1162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The animation and augmented reality development process will be presented by <strong>Katrin Novakovi\u0107 and Matea Kova\u010d.<\/strong> The Croatian animation team included <strong>Lea Vidakovi\u0107, Katrin Novakovi\u0107, Jo\u00e3o Miguel Real, and Matea Kova\u010d<\/strong>, and the animations were created based on children\u2019s drawings developed during workshops. In addition to 2D digital animation, a segment of stop-motion animation was developed using handcrafted puppets inspired by the children\u2019s artworks.
