Luise Kloos
SILENT LIGHT
Gallery Bačva
16.01. – 08.02.2015.
Opening of the exhibition on Friday, 16th January 2015.
Silent Light is an art project in the framework of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day by Luise Kloos.
Luise Kloos will build a large-dimensioned site specific fiberglass installation in gallery Bačva, on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2015. „SILENT LIGHT“ will catch the environmental light and reflect it. Luise Kloos produces two extraordinary experiences of perception with her installation. The cylindric curton-like thread structures create an extremely unusual spatial situation best described as “flowing”, in which we can only sense an “interior” (in which the visitor is) and an “exterior” (through which he can look through the weave of threads). Beams of light penetrate the threads (which are the basic material for optical fibre threads indispensable in the telecommunications industry). They are passed through into the “interior” where they create an unreal, dreamlike, misty light situation. It´s an artificial nature-light-space” and invites to remember and to contemplate.
Luise Kloos did her first artistic statement “Threats of Light – A Memorial to Lost Souls” for Holocaust victims in 2003 at Yeshiva University Museum, NYC. She was invited to give several lectures in NYC at the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. In 2007 she was nominated for the International Yewish Art Award – Finalist of the Year 2007, Ben Uri Gallery London.
For Zagreb she creates the site specific installation “SILENT LIGHT” in the commemoration year 70 years end of WWII.
Luise Kloos is living and working in Austria. Luise works in paintings, drawings, installations and interdisciplinary performances. She is exhibiting and teaching in many countries like USA, India, Great Britain, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Finland, Slovenia and Croatia. Luise is inspired from different cultures and applies these impressions for her work. For many years Luise Kloos has been creating installations, performances, videos and scenographys in many different workshops and international festivals. She is established for her collaborations with contemporary composers, writers, dancers and musicians.
