VARIATIONS ON SENSITIVE

We are inviting you to the performances titled VARIATIONS ON SENSITIVE that will take place on the 12^th of June starting at 17:00 h and on the 14^th of June starting at 18 h, Bačva Gallery, House of HDLU in Zagreb, in the frame of Danceweek Festival and in the frame of philosophy symposium Poiesis organised by Multimedia Institute in Zagreb.

New work for five dancers by a choreographer Marjana Krajač invites you on a journey of movement, time and space, entering gradually in to the layers of dance’s rich texture. Intensive, meditative and purifying experience of waching is forming specific elasticity of time and meaning.

In her last works, Marjana Krajač embarked on a complex mission of revoking the very substance of a dance medium, exposing its own ontology and deconstructed historicity. This monumental durational work articulates the arrival of a historic modernism in to the dance medium, and how was dance, as we understand it today, shaped by that and in what way.

In such framework of artistic focus, Marjana Krajač and five dancers are asking relevant questions of metaphysical commitments and added meanings of the performative body.

Performance is accompanied by a booklet containing a text of the French philosopher Jacques Rancière, titled “Moment of Dance”.

The experience is rounded by the minimalist durational piano composition from 1959 of American composer Dennis Johnson titled “November”. A composition was lost and not available over 50 years until the pianist R. Andrew Lee manage to reconstruct it and released in 2013.

Duration: 150 minutes (two and a half hours), no intermission.

The work was created in cooperation and residencies at Santarcangelo dei Teatri (Italy), Uferstudios / Tanzfabrik Berlin and the Zagreb Dance Centre. The work was realized with the support of the City of Zagreb, Croatian Ministry of Culture, Zagreb Dance Centre, Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance and Croatian Association of Artists / Meštrović pavilion / Dom HDLU in Zagreb.

open call for exhibiting in Barrel Gallery, Karas Gallery, PM Gallery and Ring Gallery

The rights to participate in the contest have all regular members of HDLU (with settled membership fee) and all the artists and experts in the field of Fine Arts.

THE APPLICATION CAN INCLUDE:

• exhibition proposals
• educational projects
• publishing projects
• international programs, inter-institutional and regional collaborations

APPLICATIONS SHALL BE SUBMITTED BY COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FORM AND SUBMISSION OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS. All the fields in the application form which are marked with * are mandatory. Application which is not fully completed or does not contain the required documents, will not be considered.
